Greg has a diverse background with more than 20 years’ of professional experience in managing teams in both Information Technology and Human Resources. Greg has two graduate degrees from the University of Alberta, the first in Education with a specialization in Instructional Technologies and the second, a MBA. He strongly believes that an organization’s greatest asset is its people and he has always focused on professional and personal development.

The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners does hereby recognize that the aforementioned individual has satisfied the requirements and standards for the Photovoltaic Associate established by the NABCEP Board of Directors.Greg is currently working towards North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certification and was recognized as a Photovoltaic Associate on April 28, 2017.

As Greg saw his family continue to grow, he wanted to do his part to fight climate change for future generations. He started EnSegs with the hope of creating simple ways for people to own and produce their own renewable energy. The very first solar project that EnSegs developed was built on Greg’s garage.

Greg is on the Board of Directors for the Solar Energy Society of Alberta and sits on the PR, Personnel, Web, and Strategic Planning committees. He also served a year as the Seminar Chair.

Chris Barry B.Sc. (Operations Manager)

Chris brings over 18 years’ experience in the oil & gas and energy industry to EnSegs. He is a leader of field operations and has experience providing managerial and technical oversight in various roles in Canada and United States. A graduate of University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Chris has consistently worked to reduce his carbon footprint and promote green technology.

Derek is a customer advocate, with an accomplished, thirty year career devoted to delivering solutions across multiple business sectors.  An internally driven and highly versatile leader, Derek is a problem solver that seizes opportunities, and achieves results. His motivation is rooted in his passion for refining and growing people, organizations, and the community. This has resulted in innovative thinking that continues to apply well-rounded practical business acumen to over 300 projects and 40 business advisory engagements.

A long-time advocate and student of alternative energy and off-grid solutions, Derek is excited about EnSegs’ ability to remove the barriers that prevent many from accessing the benefits of residential and commercial solar energy. Jeffrey Cullen, MBA, P.Eng, PMP (CFO)

Jeff has over 25 years of professional experience in the fields of consulting engineering, project management and management consulting.

Originally from Montreal, Jeff completed a B.Eng in Building Engineering from Concordia University and completed the design of mechanical systems for over 100 buildings in British Columbia and Alberta before completing an MBA at the University of Alberta and switching his professional focus to management consulting on a full time basis in 2002.

Since then he has consulted with over 100 privately owned businesses in the areas of strategy and financial management.

As the father of two young sons, Jeff believes that the future prosperity of Alberta and Canada lies in the diversification of our energy sector and the adoption of sustainable technologies and renewables.

Shirley Mitchell (Finance Manager)

Shirley Mitchell, has a passion for animals particularly horses, parrots and dogs. Her business background includes operation of a successful family-owned flooring company, Ador-A-Floor Hardwood Co. Ltd., since 1988, while concurrently assisting other entrepreneurs with new business ventures in a managerial capacity. Shirley’s education was completed at the University of Alberta firstly with a B.Sc. (with distinction) followed by an MBA.

Upon completion of her business studies, she began developing Nortel’s marketing plans for Western Canada. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed her role at the University of Alberta as Program Facilitator for the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences promoting research and applied mathematical sciences to stimulate curiosity in mathematical education. In addition, she was a business manager for two MITACS scientific Centers of Excellence.

Shirley is active with the Faculty of Business assisting students and attending numerous Faculty events. In addition, she volunteers for the University of Alberta Alumni Council to determine Award recipients or with events to assist students maintaining a connection to her roots and giving back to community. Currently, Shirley is on the Boards of the Alberta Council of Technologies (www.abctech.ca), Edmonton Lifelong Learners Association (partner of the University of Alberta) and the Edmonton Blues Society.

Dustin Friel (Director Web Development)

Dustin is a Software Engineering Manager with 19 years of architecture and application development experience. He manages a project’s Software Development Lifecycle, lead design, and reviews code. Dustin has managed teams of up to 30 software engineers and quality assurance engineers and specializes in: Agile, Java, Enterprise Web Applications, RIA, Web 2.0, mobile, and project management.

Dustin works behind the scenes ensuring our websites, the interlinking databases, and all the security measures are in place and functioning as intended.

Alex Cartier (Master Electrician)

Alex is a Master Electrician with over ten years of experience in residential, commercial, and industrial construction and service. He began pursuing his Master Electrician certification with the hope of branching out into the progressive field of Alternative Energy Technologies and in March 2015, Alex completed his designation. When he approached EnSegs, Alex was keen on being involved in a company that could provide the opportunity to expand his knowledge of the industry, as well as his trade, while helping build an idea that enables everyone to take part in the growth of renewable energy. Alex has completed the SESA PV for Electricians course and continues to seek knowledge and education to further his understanding of alternative energy technologies. He will be signing off on all electrical permits, assisting in walkthroughs, and oversee the best practices for our installations.

Mike Kozikowski (Solar Electrician Apprentice)

Mike, a graduate from the first class of NAIT’s Alternative Energy Technology program, studied various alternative energy technologies and completed his formal studies in 2012. Mike is now an Electrician Apprentice with plans to become a master electrician. Mike has a passion for solar PV and completed the SESA PV for Electricians Class in September 2012, where he met Greg.

Mike works with the EnSegs team to develop content for our website and assists the Journeyman electrician with installations.

Adam Trovato BA (Environmental Content Coordinator)

Adam, while pursuing a political science degree from the University of Alberta, became very passionate about renewable energy and personal sustainability. This, coupled with his love for the outdoors, motivated him to further pursue the field of renewable energy in technical detail at NAIT where he completed the Alternative Energy Technology program. Adam works with the EnSegs team developing website content as well as furthering marketing and social media efforts and is also the main contributor to the EnSegs Blog.

John has has been practicing print and digital design for over 30 years, including 20 years at the University of Alberta creating instructional media. Ten years ago he launched KeynoteThemePark.com to offer best-of-breed presentation materials for users of Keynote, Apple’s presentation application. John has also been lead designer on several mobile apps.

John works with the EnSegs team on all graphic and design needs, from business cards, to marketing, to website design.

Trevor Locke (Field Support & Installations)

Trevor, a graduate from the first class of NAIT’s Alternative Energy Technology program began his career designing and installing Solar arrays for both residential and commercial applications. Trevor has a wealth of knowledge and an amazing passion for solar technologies that he is eager and willing to share. His greatest reward is when he witnesses a client get excited about their solar array and the energy that it is producing.

Trevor works with the EnSegs team to resolve solar array issues and to consult on solar installations. He is also involved in developing partnerships with external solar installation businesses.

Trevor is a past board member for the Solar Energy Society of Alberta.

Andy Smith P.Eng. (Structural Engineering)

Andy is well known throughout the solar PV industry for his willingness to provide expertise in structural engineering to many different companies. Long before working on his first EnSegs project, he provided years of support working throughout Alberta and the far north.

Andy assists the EnSegs team on structural issues, e.g. can the roof hold the proposed solar array, will the wind or snow loads affect the array, etc. He provides best practice advice and is critical to the long term success of a solar PV installation.

Andy has also spent several years on the Board of Directors for the Solar Energy Society of Alberta.
